Joseph Peterson grew up in Platteville, WI, about an hour and twenty minutes from Marion. He spent summers bailing hay for local farmers and eventually started milking cows in high school to pay for his first vehicle. Joseph went to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville studying math, physics, engineering and science eventually graduating in May of 2012. Three weeks after graduation he was in Burkina Faso as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching sixth grade math. He was in Burkina Faso from June 2012 to June 2014. After returning home, Joseph’s grandfather, a banker of over 50 years, suggested he look at a career in banking. Joseph worked for Prudential Financial in Dubuque, IA for a year. In June 2015 he started at Peoples State Bank as a lender in the Boscobel, WI branch. He did all types of lending as well as being active in the community as the Treasurer and Director for the Boscobel Chamber of Commerce and Secretary and Director for the Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics Foundation. He moved to Marion, IA to be closer to his significant other in December 2018 and is now a Business Banking Officer for Hills Bank and Trust Company in the Marion 7th Ave branch.
